THORN CLUB MEMBERSHIP

The York & Lancaster Thorns Women's Rugby Football Club offers many opportunities for its members and supporters to contribute their time to the success of the Club. The Club understands that not everyone interested in the sport of Rugby actually wants to be a playing member. With that in mind, the Club offers two options to those interested in getting involved: Active Membership and Social Membership.

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

The York & Lancaster Thorns offer Active Membership status to those who intend to be playing members in the Club's competitive match schedule, or who have a strong interest in serving in roles deciding the affairs of the organization. Active members are eligible to participate in competitive matches as part of the Club's team, have a full voice and vote in Club matters and are eligible to hold an administrative office.

SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP

Social members of the York & Lancaster Thorns include those who fully support the purposes of the Club. As a social member, you will have the opportunity to provide moral, logistical, financial, recruiting and other support. Social members are also encouraged to practice with the team and participate in Thorns' sponsored events while making a decision whether to join the Club as an Active Member.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR MATCH PLAY...

Register yourself with the Thorns RFC to be eligible to represent the team in match play. It is the policy of the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) that all players, coaches, referees, administrators and clubs must comply with the USA Rugby's Club and Individual Participation Program (CIPP) for all matches.

CIPP Details

Perhaps the most visible of the USA Rugby benefits of membership, CIPP is insurance that provides liability protection in case of property damage or bodily injury to third parties. These parties may include the players, venue owner, coaches, referees, sponsors, spectators and others.
